In TOS (and somewhat on TNG), Trek pushed the envelope by costuming the women in artfully arranged strips and swaths of cloth that always looked to be on the verge of falling off, and exposed as much skin as the censors would allow.
Now, in VOY and ENT, Seven and T'Pol are costumed in neck-to-ankle, long-sleeved, practically-painted-on catsuits.
So, which do you like, which do you hate, which pushes the envelope more? If you were costuming the women on Star Trek, what would you have them wear?

Okay...I'll bite on this one.
I meant that figuratively! ;D
I suppose I'm a traditionalist...or maybe just a chauvenist...but I prefer the TOS miniskirt uniforms. In fact, I liked the mirror universe, two-piece miniskirts even more. 8)

Catsuits, giving the males also wore something equally-- uhm, objectivizing (?)!

While Seven's suits were always a bit of a turn on, T'Pols is unfaltering. With the waist band just under her... bust it doesn't show us the typical atractive body type. I've watched Voyagers and had to bite my knuckles from time to time, but I've never been moved by T'Pol (now Jolene Blalock on the other hand... ;D ;D ;D)

If I had to make the choice, I'd rather wear the minidress than a catsuit.
I find them rather restricting of certain movements - like sitting down for example. But then, you hardly ever see 7 sit do you? No wonder, IMO. Ouch.

My vote goes for the sensible Starfleet uniforms of most of DS9 and all of Voyager. They looked comfortable and functional, and most importantly, breathable

^ Yup. I thought it was a bit discriminating how in TNG they quickly liberated the men from spandex uniforms when the women had to wait several more years to get rid of them. Not to mention those ludicrous high heels...

Just beacuse I'm a guy that doesn't mean i want to see half naked females, or tight fitting catsuits adorning the female characters on Trek. I don't like the fact that a series has to rely on what the lead female character is wearing to attract an audience. People should be watching the show for the characters, stories, themes and also the action, not beacuse they can see a character's cleavage sticking through her catsuit. But on the flip side, i can see how characters like Seven and T'Pol attract new audiences to Trek. Even if they are just watching for that reason, at least new people are watching Trek.

Of course, as we all HATE to admit, the truth is that if nicest, best, more adoring man in the world looked like Bobcat Goldthwait, it wouldn't matter how smart, funny, giving, or pleasent he was. No one would approach him to find out (Same for women... ESPECIALLY if she looked like Bobcat!)

No one would approach him to find out (Same for women... ESPECIALLY if she looked like Bobcat!) Now now, UT. That is not true for everyone. Not all of us go by looks when choosing the people we form romantic relationships with. Believe me, if I could give you all a slideshow of some of my exes, you'd believe me! As my mother said about one of my exboyfriends after we broke up: "I liked him all right, but I was kinda hoping you wouldn't have get married and have kids, because it might make the grandchildren ugly." Hehe, gotta love Mom Back on topic, yes, the high heels are completely ridiculous for a *military* uniform. I groaned very loudly the first time I noticed that Kira had been stuck in high heels. Of course, it never seemed to affect her ability to kick any and all kinds of butt
