^^^An anime fan! How did you feel about The Dirty Pair and Captain Harlock? Loved them both, especially the properly-translated My Youth in Arcadia Saga. Bio of A Space Tyrant was better than most American cartoons out today, but that's not saying much (except for Batman & XMen, of course).

I have seen only little bits of the Dirty Pair and never saw Captain Harlock but i love Captain Future, Toei Animation brought him to live in an really awesome series Look at this link www.captainfuture.com/deutsch/home/index.htmlIt is in German but awesome. I like Lupin III as well ;D And not to forget Robotech! i love that series.

Mega Dittos on most of your choices and welcome, T'Pol. Love that lightsaber duel IMG BTW. Apparently we have another computer wonderkind that makes me feel like an inept dinosaur. Oh well, enjoy yourself, give us a look around and post as often as time permits. Your postings give the impression that you'll fit in to our e-community just fine.

Well, to be honest, aside from Trek, I'm not much of a Sci-Fi fan.. but here are the ones I loved:
Starman K-Pax Logan's Run
But the best Sci-Fi I can recommend is Twin Peaks. It's really a fabulous show. However, I have strict instructions on the order of viewing. The show *must* be watched in the following order: Twin Peaks Pilot All 29 episodes, *in order*, no skipping! Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
I can rent all of them on VHS at my local Hollywood Video.. But I very very strongly recommend them to everyone. It's a great show, very funny, very fascinating. And, if you ask me, if there hadn't been Twin Peaks, there never would have been an X-Files.
I'm somewhat of an anime fan. I love "Battle Angel" and "Cowboy Bebop". As for movies, I'm a big fan of Miyazaki. Probably the most well-known Miyazaki film in the US is "Princess Mononoke", but it's about a million times better in Japanese with subtitles as opposed to the English dub. But Miyazaki's best film, hands down is "Grave of the Fireflies". Probably the most touching and heartbreaking film I've ever seen.

Question: Did anybody see "The Lensman" ? i think there are two or three anime's made of those story's, it is almost as with Captain Future, both are very old SF brought to life by anime.

^^^I've seen Lensman in the original Japanese and briefly in dubbed English. You're right, it is based on the pulp stories written by that great scribe of the '30's and '40's E.E. "Doc" Smith! Apparently, these classic tales are being revamped for a new SF/Fantasy audience.
They took a lot of liberties as far as faithfulness to the original Lensman stories are concerned, Peter Van Buskirk didn't have horns and Worzel looked more serpentine than bipedally reptilian, but they were close with their interpretations of the two primary aliens, especially "the bad guys."

[glow=green,2,300] Old movies: -War Of The Worlds -The Last Man on Earth -Tron
'Current' Movies: -Independence Day -Wing Commander -The Abyss -Galaxy Quest -Back To The Future (1-3) -Men In Black -E.T. -The Matrix -Titan A.E.
Lost In Space: the first half was great.. but the second half - where they crash on the planet - sucked, and was so boring.. it didnt pick up again till they flew threw the planet to get out.. then the end they "find" their way to Alpha Prime and the movie ends with almost no shot at a sequel to see if they actually make it to Alpha Prime.. it did have a good soundtrack though [/glow]

I agree, with Captian Future they were much carefull, the space Emperor is almost folowing Hamilton's story line to the letter, the only concessions they made were those that you have to make to get a printed story into something watchable. I think it is kinda difficult to get stuff that is in print on the screen.

Watched Dark Star again last weekend.
The Alien beat anything currently on Trek! And they got the time dilation effect in, along with existentialism too.
Maybe not the flashy scifi we're used to now, but worth a view for historical / cult interest.
