Well, we've seen this before. Funny, when we saw this story last (DS9's Shadowplay) it was Rene Auberjonois who was unaware of the true nature of the colony.
Now he is the perpetrator.
The question on this is that it was DONE very well. We were intriqued when we were supposed to be, and spooked when we were supposed to be.
Granted, it wasn't too big of a suprise, the computer core repair was the major give away, but I enjoyed viewing it.
Also, I'm sure that Ezri will like this as she has not seen Shadowplay (or did she) which first aired in Febuary of 1994. Heck, if I hadn't first seen it just a few months ago. Actually, Ezri may have been sitting around for that after all...
Anyway, the point is that this episode was well executed, if unoriginal. Much like Dominic Sena's Gone In Sixty Seconds. It may have not been to original or cerebral, but d**n it looked good.
This episode also marked the return of Maywhether, who has been forgotten about it seems. He didn't have a pivotal role, but at least the guy got some lines (even if Hoshi was sacraficed instead.)
T'Pol's scolding Trip for his "Unexpected" encounter was kind of silly. A.) It just makes her look like the jealous friend who'd rather be more (T/T fans cheer). B.) We all know that he did nothing naughty on that trip. He was duped, so T'Pol has no reason to be the She-Devil she was to him.
Not to mention that this was her only major addition to this episode.
It makes you wonder how no one seemed to get ignored on DS9 (with 8 credited characters, and by the end at least another 5 non-credited, but major chars... Garek, Dukat, Leeta, Rom, Nog.....) but in Enterprise, with only 7 people, we have episodes where 1 or 2 aren't even seen (and I'm not just talking about eps where they are all unconscious)
Over all, I can't rate this episode. I thought it was very well done, but the story was just too common to allow myselft to give it the 7 or 8 that would had I never seen DS9. I guess that's your answer. If' you're left in the dark by my refernce to Shadowplay, you'll be happy with this show.
