If it was announced tomorrow that there was only going to be one more Star Trek franchise, what would you like it to be about?
I would like to see a show that is set further in the future than anything else before - say about a thousand years from now.
In this show you could have intergalactic ships, not just interstellar ones. This would open up the possibility of completely exotic aliens, ones that aren't humanoid at all, as they would have had a completely different species of origin.
Then there would be the technologies themselves, these would be almost limitless in scope and would enable storylines to develop to a degree not seen before.
I think a series like this, would be a truly fitting send-off for an iconic part of science fiction television like Star Trek.

Hmm, Technomage. The problem with setting a series so far into the future, is that you could well end up with something more like Iain M. Banks' Culture - like that depicted in Excession... It would be hard to make a series from it.
I wouldn't mind a C29 mini-series, but if they were to make anything longer, then time-travel would get just slightly repetitive...
I am not sure.

If they were going to end the series, I would either end it with a "Starfleet technology is nearly destroyed and we have to start again from scratch" as a reflection of how the Space Program has stalled lately in real life or a "Humanity has evolved beyond physical forms and a new race carries on the Trek tradition" like Clarke's post-2001 novels. That could be too avant-garde for the franchise, but I'd like to see it.

If there was to be only one more Trek, I'd have to want an anthology series so that we can see a variety of different areas of the Federation, and it gives the possibility of everyone seeing at least a little of the ideas that they want to see, from different settings to different time frames.
And the very last episode would be the fall of Earth in a war, with the last scene being one of hope, someone on Earth saying that they will start over again.

Give me a parrallel show, set during TNG and DS9, in a Rosencrantz and Guildernstern are dead sort of Forest Gump Trials and tribbleations sort of thing.
The politics and interpretations explanations for things we only half saw, and more Dominion war battle senes, hell we could finally get to see Wolf 359 propper.
