What was your favorite and least favorite ways that Star Trek Characters have died? Best: Khan. When I die, I hope I'm spitting my last breath at someone. What a cool way to die! Worst: I think his name was Mallory (but don't quote me on that) from "The Apple." That was the TOS episode with Vol and happy Eden people. Anyway, this guy in a red shirt starts freaking out and trips over an explosive rock and blows up. Imagine the letter that Kirk had to write that guy's parents.

Best: Spock. "You have been, and always will be, my friend." That line always brings tears to my eyes, even though we knew that his death wasn't permanent.
Worst: Tasha Yar. I know Denise wanted off the show, but it would have been nice to see her go in a blaze of glory instead, with Worf howling over her body and the Enterprise blasting out of the sky the baddies that killed her. What can I say, it was First Season TNG.

Best: Close tie between the already-sited Khan Quoting Captain Ahab scene from TWOK and the Romulan Commander calling Kirk "friend" before hitting the self-destruct in "Balance of Terror." Two classy actors playing two classy villains who died with style! Worst: The Orion spy who passed as an Andorian in "Journey to Babel" who miscalculated the dosage of his poison! He obviously got his job through relatives!

I cant really remember a "best " death, but Tashas death was REALLY the worst death.. ever.

Realize WHY Tasha died that way. Gene wanted to surprise us and show us that a character COULD just die. Sometimes things happen, even to non-redshirts.
My least favorite was Dax, because I knew it was coming. Had I not, I would have totally freaked and it may have touched me a bit.
Other good ones include Decker from The Doomsday Machine, and... nevermind.

Best: I know some people on the board weren't pleased with it, but I felt Lursa and B'Etor got a pretty cool death. They went out with a colossal bang and it happened in a feature film.
Worst: I'd have to say Dax, though I don't fault the writers at all. They did the best they could with the situation. I just didn't want Jadzia to die! But the writers had already planned so much for the last episode of season six, and writing in Jadzia's death was NOT an original part of the plan. Terry Farrell also said she would have preferred that Jadzia go out fighting, and I have to agree. To me, Jadzia had such an irrepressable spirit, it was kind of a letdown to have Dukat just zap her.

^^^That could be an extention of UT's point regarding "unsatifactory deaths being a part of life."
When a lady friend of mine expressed disatisfaction over how Kirk died in "Generations," I told her "Look at it this way, Abraham Lincoln died in a theatre while watching an awful play, Bat Masterson died of a heart attack while typing up a sports column IN NEW YORK CITY, Attila the Hun died while "doing the deed" (talk about injustice, he killed people and he gets to go while he's having fun!) and Casanova died of a brain tumor." Her response was, "But that was real life!" It's funny how some people tend to accept inappropriate real deaths and have a hard time dealing with non-glorious fictional deaths involving characters that they personally admire and adore.
Just thought I'd share that.

I thought Kirk's death was GREAT. People gripe all the time, but it was perfect.
He had a choice of pure happiness, or risking his life to save 200 million (small in Kirk terms)
He chose to risk it all.. and when he was dying, out came, "It was fun." 3 meanings... Shatner describing his ride, Kirk descrbing his entire life, and Kirk talking about how GREAT it was to be important again.
That moment before he jumps, we zoom into his eyes and can see that he KNOWS he's going to die.. he's alone and facing dounting odds... but he's TRILLED.
That beats going to bed and not waking up again.

Well said, UT! Better to die fighting the good fight than lying on your back wondering what might have happened if...unless you're Attila the Hun of course!

Or Kurzon Dax that is... ahh, death by Jamahara... (Tried looking up the spelling, but but I assume I need that DS9 companion.)

I think it's Jamaharon. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but you can bet I'm bringing my Horga'hn to Risa. ;D
