For a young, very amateur wannabe write like me? I never really finish many stories, but I've started a few and have some neat ideas, but usually run out of patience. It seems like I write horrid, probably true. Every once in awhile I'll produce something that's pretty neat though(okay... maybe twice...three times, short little stories). Usually I start some scifi little story and get about a dozen pages and read it over, judging it pretty lame and don't add anything more. Any ideas, suggestions, or anything on how to write better?

Practice and wait.
I don't know how young you are, but youth itself is a very transient phase. It carries through into other aspects of one's life, and butts heads against anything longstanding. This is the time to develop and fine tune your abilities.
Take advantage of your inspirations and write as you like. In time, you'll be able to write in more detail instead of getting to the good parts. At least you'll have them on record, from which to make those complete works. When the time comes, you'll know when you're ready to show the world.

Take your time is one of the biggest pieces of advice I can give you. Don't rush yourself when writing. Dont rush to end a certain scene, it will end when it is ready to end. If you rush your story it will not be a good read.
Dont make all your characters alike, and dont make them bland.
