Part inspired by the fact that MiB2 is out this summer, and part inspired because I saw it again this week... Men in Black is a simply brilliant movie. It's clichèd in moments, but always funny. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones work well together, and the scripting is excellent. This all bodes well for the sequel this summer... Anyone else a fan? Is there anyone that doesn't like it?

I enjoyed the original movie.
"Hey, I make this look Good!"
I'm always a little leery about sequels, though. Often there is an air of 'cashing in' about them.

I'm always a little leery about sequels, though. You'll enjoy this cinematic year, then... Still, I think that the film will still be better than average... The actors are too good to make it bad... [Recent memories of Ali surface... ]

;D I can't wait. I love that they make sequels to good movies, that way the movie is not quite over . The idea of the movie is good, and I would love to see it as a tv-series too.

I really liked this movie...TLJ is one of my favorite actors, and has a great comic sense. Can't wait to see how they get around his "flashing" at the end of the original...and I have a feeling that WS and Linda Fiorentino are going to be great together.

Actually, the bringin back of TLJ looks to be great fun.
Will bascially gets to reverse the roles, where HE is in the know and TLJ is the one who's out of his element.

The first film hit the right buttons, ran through its paces and gave a good payoff.
Turning it around and making Smith's character "the veteran" and the Jones' character "the rookie" could work, but it sounds too much like warmed over milk from The Cash Cow for my liking.
That's why I'm leery about sequels.

Pity...but LFB seems to fit the part pretty well too...is she playing "L?" Or some other WiB? ;D
Peter is too lazy to go to IMDB and look it up for himself...[/i] 8)

As it stands now....
Tommy Lee Jones .... Kevin Brown/MiB Agent K (Kay) Will Smith .... MiB Agent J (Jay) Rip Torn .... MiB Chief Z (Zed) Rosario Dawson .... Rita (NOT Torres, people) Patrick Warburton .... MiB Agent T (Tee) rest of cast listed alphabetically Brad Abrell .... Mannix Lara Flynn Boyle .... Serleena Paige Brooks .... Laranna, Queen of the Universe .... ....
(note, Will Smith does NOT get TOP billing, but he's getting paid 20% of the first 200million gross (a practically garaunteed $40mil paycheck) and Tommy is getting only like 10% (not that I'd refuse $20 mil, but you understand the point...)

^^^Which would put Smith in the Cruise/Stallone/Schwartzenegger/Carey stratosphere, another reason why I'll wait until the Bargain Video Matinee Rental season to see it.
