*looks around and sees no thread about the film* Are you trying to say that, besides AI the jump-starter, I am the only one around here so far who's seen the thing? I wasn't even planning to see it on big screen, video would have done just as well, but what can you do if you're practically being forcibly pulled into the theater and paid in? My mind is too mushy to give detailed and critical analysis, I'll rather wait 'til someone else does the work and just go 'Mm-hmm, right, I agree' or 'Nonono, in my opinion--'... Few scattered notions, however: - More of a balanced film than the first one, actually had a plot. - Casting Anakin, acting skills obviously weren't top priority. The scenes between him and Padme are mildly painful to watch. The same goes some of the dialogue. - Too many effect-packed action scenes --yawn - Lightsables, mmm... - YODA!!! ;D ;D

I've realized that Lucas could make a flashback move and call it Star Wars and the fans would love it anyway.

Lucas keeps saying he kept waiting for all those years before making the prequels because he wanted the technology involved to reach certain level. IMO, both pre-eps seen so far would probably have been better films if he didn't have all the marvelous gadgets at hand. He really isn't at his best when creating human [?] relationships and directing actors, a fact that is only highlighted by abundant use of special effects. If he had to do them the hard, old-fashioned way, he would have been forced to give more thought for when the effects would really be needed instead of just throwing bells and whistles left and right. The film was 15-20 mins too long, much of which could have been cut off from the action scenes [and things like Anakin riding on a badly animated galactic wild board!] At the time of what should have been the climatic battle in the end, I was just waiting to get home. [It's probable it's just me who's too old and too female to appreciate all that non-stop wham-bang, I'm sure all those kids who complain about lack of space battle etc. action scenes in Trek were appropriately extatic... They're the target audience anyway].
The impressive Kamino scenes and Obi-Wan's investigations were when the film swas it's best for me, in addition to Yoda's undertakings. That's when the film came closest to the feel from the original films. Ewan McGregor was also the one doing best acting-wise, along with Samuel L Jackson. Each and every actor, real and CGI alike, got their share of cringeful dialogue, varying from plain stupid and clichéish to hammer-to-head -subtlety.

"Party's over!" I saw it today, in a 'packed' auditorium [7 people]... And yes, it really was good. - The CGI was über-impressive. And unlike EpI, the film had more than just effects.
- Yes, that's right, the film had a story, and it wasn't too bad...
- However, as a negative, the acting was pretty terrible... Ewan McGregor was gpod, as was Sam L [when isn't he?], but Hayden Christensen really is bad...
- Another plus, Natalie Portman really is purdy in this movie. ;D
- The characters were still very one-dimensional, however, as was the Amidala/Anakin love story...
- The action scenes were brilliant. Some were a little overlong - the one in the machine foundry was a little clichèd, but in general, brilliant.
- JarJar hardly spoke. Hurrah!
I came out of the cinema very impressed.

Mr. Lucas, I demand that in the ep III, for every minute Natalie Portman is seen running around in tights, we ladies will get equal amount of Ewan McGregor in a sweaty little T-shirt!

The worst thing is that he's supposed to be in the next part as well... Well, he might improve. He was marginally better at the end than at the start... She even had a backless dress in a few scenes... And then there was that leather in front of the fire... ;D

Mr. Lucas, I demand that in the ep III, for every minute Natalie Portman is seen running around in tights, we ladies will get equal amount of Ewan McGregor in a sweaty little T-shirt! Here, here! Ewan's cuteness is the only thing that saved EpI, if you ask me. As for EpII, I enjoyed it, much more than EpI. Had some dragging parts, mostly when Anakin was on the screen, but it was much better. The lack of JarJar was an extreme improvement, and of course there was the kickin' Yoda scene And as always, the music and visuals were incredible, making it a film most definitely best seen in a theater. Overall.. I liked it.. but it wasn't as good as Spiderman
