Good golly gosh! A decent match as the Champions' League Final! And my oh my what a wonderful goal. - Raùl, who's clearly been reading his rule book section about not being offside from a throw, goes behind the defence and slots it past the keeper for a soft goal. 1-0.
- Seven minutes later, and Leverkusen have a free kick. The cross comes in and Lucio heads into the net. 1-1.
- Things get good. Roberto Carlos sprints towards the corner flag chased by a Leverkusen defender. Instinctively, Carlos hooks it towards the Leverkusen box, over his shoulder.
Who happens to be waiting there? None other than the worlds best central midfielder, Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane pirouettes and slots a simply masterful dipping left footed volley into the top left corner. The Leverkusen defence stand in shock.
The second half is a fair match, with Leverkusen coming oh so close many times in the seven minutes of injury time - that's an substituted Real keeper for you... As it is, Real Madrid took the cup on a 2-1 victory. Zidane's goal was what separated the sides, in more than one sense.
