Before confusing some, Ezri has changed her board name to Rhai (to match her RPG character) We got a house.. we got a house... Now we have 33 days to pick which bank will give us the money.. get the money to the seller, and pick up our keys on June 28th. Then we rip out some walls, all the kitchen and redo that before moving in... then we need to rip of the roof on the deck, replace the plaster walls with drywall, paint, insilate the back porch, extend the second bedroom, update the bathroom, pretty up the basement, redo the roof, jack up the front a bit and fix the ugly patch job on the hardwood floor, knock out the front closet and reclaim the master bedroom space, replace the chain link fence with an 8 foot back that lowers to 5-6 on the sides, trim the hedges, repair (paint) the 1 car detached garage... uhhh... Oh yeah RIP Out the ugly carpet OVER The maple hardwood floors in the living and dining. And a new front door. Replace the styrofoam covering the frost wall on the sides of the home, do SOMETHING with the gravel/grass/concrete paver driveway thingy. That should just about do it. Then sell it for 50K more than we paid, give my mom back the 10K she put in + 20K more (her have of the profit) we keep the other 20K and all equity (about 1-3K) and use that as a down payment on ANOTHER home that we will likely put as much work into, but LIVE there for another 13 years after that before BUILDING our parent retirement house (at 41 all kids will be out of high school). Well, that's the GENERAL plan.

Sounds like buying a house is a lot more straight forward over there.
And I love the line 'pick which bank will give us the money' LOL Over here it would be find a bank willing to get its finger out and agree to the mortgage within the timescale... not easy!

Good luck with the plans I hope you schedule to spend some time with us to!

Just read your Avatar's quote Aur... with phrases like that (and a spare $1000) I'd fly you over. As for Building Nolo? That's in the future.. Unfortunatly, you must find land to build on and that is usually expensive and hard to find something where you want it. (My friends are doing that and since they are doing most of the work themselves, they're getting a 200K home for about 150. 40 of that is the land! My dad has some land and someday we'll build our home out there, AFTER the kids are gone. That way we won't be one of those old couples trying to upkeep a 5 bedroom home. Also, to build you need someone to give you money ASSUMING you'll use it properly for a home WORTH that amount... that's VERY hard when you got bad credit. As for Zeph's offer, I'd take it back if I were you! You'll definetly be invited for a visit once things calm down a little bit.

It was an older couple, so a softer warmer floor wal likely more convienient for them.

I think the confusion was that you said we were going to COVER the hardwood.. what he meant was we are getting rid of the carpet OVER the hard wood floors! Yes! I am looking forward to getting rid of that nasty carpet and looking at the maple floors beneath.. (they are in the living/dining/master bed/2nd bedroom) Only 31 days to go!
