Although I heard that this game wasn't anything special, I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. It's reputation for being buggy as hell seems to be well-deserved, though, since I can't even get the stupid thing to run. Here's the thing - whenever I start the game, it goes through the opening sequence fine. However, once it gets to the menu screen, it freezes and I have to restart. Every single time.
Any suggestions?

It sounds to me like a graphic card compatibility issue, starstarstar. You may have already tried these, but here goes: 1. Download the latest Dominion Wars patch. 2. Make sure you have the most recent DirectX drivers from Microsoft. 3. Download the latest drivers for your video card. 4. Completely uninstall the game and re-install it. 5. Slap the side of your PC then reboot it. I have Dominion Wars, but I haven't played it for a while. There's one mission where you have to save Thomas Riker from the Cardassians. After blowing him up or letting the Cardies get away with him a few hundreds of times, I called it quits. After watching "What You Leave Behind," I saw that the Federation actually does win the Dominion Wars, obviously without Tom's help or without me ever having to complete the game. So I was content just to uninstall it and put it on my shelf, alongside all my other crappy Star Trek games.

Yup, I've been hearing what a disappointment it is, but I thought I'd see for myself. Just cause I love Trek games. Anyway, I've tried it with the latest patch (1.04) and have uninstalled and reinstalled the game numerous times...definitely have the newest DirectX stuff. I never tried the video drivers since my computer is relatively new, but I'll d/l those as soon as I can get through to Dell's site. Anyway, thanks for the tips Mentat Tir!
