Okay, so I picked up a copy of Armada 2 at EB last week. It's pretty good, from what I've seen so far. As expected, it's much more complicated than the first one, and I'm still trying to get the hang of it. I've got a few questions for anyone who's played it so far:
1) How do you increase the number of officers? In Armada 1 there was a button there when you clicked on a starbase...doesn't seem to be there now.
2) How do you make contact with the second trading station in the second Federation mission? It's really confusing me.
Thanks!

I haven't played Armada II, but as an owner of the first one I am eager to try it out.

It's worth it. It takes a little getting used in the beginning, but I'm having fun so far. The demo came out last week if you wanna give that a try first.

Okay, cross off #2 on that list, I've figured it out. However, I would still REALLY like to know how to increase the number of officers. Help me out, people! 8)

Unrelated to your question but starstarstar, is the engine for the game more stable than Armada 1?

I actually though about trying to get my hands on Armada, but I think I'd best not. I've got this place (plus the RPG here) and The Weekly Post, AND 3 kids AND my wife to think about... too busy.

Tyax - Armada 2 is MUCH more stable than Armada 1, hands down. Even with the latest patch, Armada 1 still crashes left and right on my computer. Armada 2 runs great, though. I'd definitely recommend it.
UT - If you ever get some free time give Armada 1 a shot. You can find it for pretty cheap these days, and it's an awesome game. One of Trek's best.

You must be lucky. When Armada 1 first came out, it was pretty buggy. With the subsequent patches, though, it got better, although it still crashes to the desktop on a regular basis. Nothing I can't live with, though. I've heard others have it worse.

^I've heard about that. Can't say I envy you. Has anyone played the game in a network or on the internet? Quite fun, though I had problems with that.

Reposting from this thread before the jump back in time...
A poster at TrekBBS managed to answer my original question on how to increase the number of available officers. Here's what capfries wrote:
