...away from your computer. Screensavers. They have no practical use anymore, but here is a beautifully designed one. [You can tell that just from looking at the site]. Very, very professional. System 47If you do download it, get the one with sound.

I'ven't used their screensavers for awhile, but I have before and they are quite neat.

If I download one more thing HE is going to go berserk.
Would you believe he tried to blame PopUp Killer for the PC running slow a couple of days ago. And it wasn't even active. And it's behaving fine now.

^^^ This is why every home should have at least two PC's...and why I'm being allowed to buy a new IMac. ;D
I'm downloading System 47 now...looks like great fun! Some of these screensavers are more fun to watch than anything else on my computer!

*shrugs*
He's talking about networking his lap-top in, so he can get online with it. What with that, and the hand-held. I think there are quite enough contraptions and boy's toys in this household at the moment.

Okay...here's my review in a nutshell: System47 is a very entertaining screensaver. It has the most realistic LCARS interface I've seen in a long time (almost as good as the one at LCARSCom.net) and a great set of sounds to go with it. The six or so modules that comprise the screensaver come up randomly, so I haven't seen all of them yet, but each one is better than the last. The one that shows a diagnostic display of the Enterprise-E looks very, very similar to the effect that was shown behind the characters in the turbolift scene early in Insurrection. That being said, the program seemed a bit buggy at first. The first three or four times I ran it, it left a program or kernal active after it shut down, with a marker on my taskbar. Annoying. But it seems to have stopped doing that now. Anyway...this one is worth grabbing. It's a lot of fun to watch, and it was definitely a conversation-starter...I had it running in my office during a couple of meetings yesterday, and it was all I could do to keep people focused on each other and not on the screensaver! I saw an interesting looking one over at LCARSCom.net a few weeks ago...based on the Enterprise (NX-01) computer interface. I'll have a look at that one and let you know what I think.

Hmm...update here. It's still leaving part of itself active after shutting down about half of the time I use it. I think it may be responsible for some new instability in my system. As pretty as it is, I'm going to junk it. Maybe it will work better on a faster system or more up-to-date OS.
And the one at LCARSCom.net is still under construction. I'll keep an eye open and let you know when it becomes available.

That's a shame...
Still, it worked well on my old Win95 PC, and now works on my WinXP computer.
Perhaps it is something to do with networking...
Ah well.

It's probably just a conflict with one of the fifteen or so programs that run minimized on my machine at any given time... ;D

Dear? Dear?
WAKE UP WHEN I'M TELLING YOU SOMETHING USEFUL! "
