When this board was created it had two important purposes, and these have become the motto by which this board exist and all members most follow them to make this board into a friendly community.
First of all this board was created for people who like Star Trek to have a friendly place to discuss the thing they most enjoy without the badgering, quarrelling, trolling, flaming and all the other pointless squabbles that often occur on other boards. Spacedock is a place where one can have discussions with other posters without being insulted, scorned, laughed at, frowned upon and so on. Anything that looks like an insult or a flame should be passed on to a moderator, as well as any other concern a member has. And, most importantly, all unfriendly posts are not to be met by flaming or unkind words but with the line: “Excuse me, but what exactly did you mean by that?”, or words to that effect.
Secondly, this board is meant to exist without the cliques or groupings that can often accrue on BBSs. These groupings form sometimes intentionally and sometimes naturally, and the reasons for them can vary. It may be because some members post more then others; those who have been members the longest know each other better then the rest; some talk in certain forums more then others; and some just ignore new people or people with low post count. Have friends on the board, but do not be isolationist, and certainly not unfriendly.
On this board every poster is a valuable poster and no member is to be excluded from any conversation on this board. We however know that as time passes by and we grow in number of members this will become more difficult to uphold, but some measures are to be taken to counteract this.
- All members are to have the opportunity to participate in any thread, activity, game, etc on this board, it is their right.
- New members are always greeted and encourage to post more.
All new and old members are to be politely refereed to this thread if they try to violate these rules.
James, the founder of this community, is under no obligation to be "fair" in how he deals with members who attempt to steer this board in some direction other than the one he has envisioned. There are no "rules" here for those whose actions threaten the community. They will simply be dealt with. Also in possession of this authority is the administrators UltimateTrekker and Ezri.
