As many of you know, I'm returning to my homeland, the U.S., on Friday for my annual vacation. As usual, I plan to pick up four or five Trek books to help me survive in the Trek-impoverished land in which I live. Would any of you care to recommend a Trek book or two that has come out in the last couple of years for me to pick up?
Here's some important information for you. I've read the whole Captain's Table series, as well as the Badlands dualology and the novelizations of Equinox and What You Leave Behind. I've also read through book 4 of the New Frontier series, but I was starting to lose interest when I exhausted my supply of that series. I love all the Trek incarnations, and I'm already planning on getting the DS9 Companion and Starship Spotter, so you don't need to convince me on either of those.
I really appreciate your opinions and your help! ;D

Have you read Q-Squared and Q-In-Law? FUNNY! Peter David makes me think and laugh at the same time! The "Young Worf" books are light reads that don't talk down to you, as most Young Adventure books tend to do, and it introduces several of the New Frontiers characters so you get to see how they interacted with their fellow alumnus, Worf.
Have a safe trip!

I believe it's a collaborative effort by Peter David and John DeLancie! That alone should make it interesting if not a refreshing change from the "Shatnerised" books that have filled the shelves of many bookstores over the decades.

I've read I,Q and liked it. At least I remember I liked it... It's been couple of years and strangely I don't remember much what happened in it, I just have this recollection it was good and it was fun. Hmm... Not sure if this was exactly helpful!

When I am done with the three books I already have out from the library, I'm thinking about checking out the ones co-written by James "Scotty" Doohan. Has anyone read them yet? Are they good, or should I save myself the trouble?

^^^ I didn't even realize that JD had collaborated on any novels, Qab...do you recall any titles? Okay, I thought I'd bring this up-to-date...here's what I bought: I, Q: I've already finished this one, and may I say it was very, very good. It was extremely funny and, as someone said of the other Q books above, it really made me think. I'll be posting a review as soon as I get my copy back from the friend to whom I loaned it. The Valiant: This is the one about young Picard as second officer aboard the Stargazer. It has a picture of Picard with hair on the cover. ;D By the Book: This is the first Enterprise book after the Broken Bow novelization. I also picked up The Ethics of Star Trek, since I'm doing some grad work in ethics right now. I have a feeling I'm not going to like the authors' premise, but equally sure it will be a fun read nonetheless. Oh, and the two I mentioned above that I had decided to get, Starship Spotter and The DS9 Companion...well, I didn't get either...the former because I was extremely disappointed with it, the latter because I was too cheap.

The first isn't worth the paper it's printed on and the second - shame, it's a superb book.

Well, I just picked up book one and two of Avatar, a DS9 continuation, and I have to say.. not very good. Those were the first Trek fiction books I'd read in probably ten years. But I do echo Elric's sentiments about Peter David.. He's definitely the best Trek author out there.
Anyone read A Stitch in Time? I noticed it in the list of DS9 books in the back of my new books, and it's written by Andrew J. Robinson! Considering the title and the author, I'm assuming it's a Garak story.. And who could resist a Garak book written by Garak?
