Just what was it about those two? I've seen and read all the arguements, theories, suppositions, etc. But one thing sticks in my head.....In the "Best of Both Worlds-Part II" she tells Riker that the relationship between herself and Picard is beyond family, beyond friendship...It alludes to a lot more than a casual, or even a traditional emtional/sexual thing.
So what's up with that?

It's never been said. Partially, there is the strange meeting they had due to Time's Arrow, but who knows. We dont' know what happened the first time HE met her.

I started a similiar thread at the "other" TrekBBS (a truly strange place) and no one over there seems to be able to get to, or handle the fact that (a) Picard and Guinan may have something including, but going much much deeper than a sexual/emotional relationship (b) or that they could or should hide it from the other Enterprise crewmembers.

Platonic friendships can get very deep.
And the relationship between a man and his bartender is special... ;D as Captain Pike and his Doctor told us in 'The Cage'!

That may be true. But I have a very strong feeling that platonic does not cover, or come up to the level of being "beyond family".
