WOW!!!!!!!!!
I've just finished reading Avatar - the two parter relaunch of Deep Space Nine. I am soooo impressed. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the relaunch.
I thought it was quite well written and the regulars from the the series have been treated very well and even moved into new directions. And the new characters are also quite intriguing and well-developed so far. The relaunch is just like the series was. With interesting and diverse characters and well developed continuity - and the characters constantly changing.
Who would have thought Ezri would switch to the command track. It sounds quite silly considering her character on the series, but in the novels it works quite well and is understandable. And who would have thought Colonel Kira would be banished from her religion (talk about challenging the staus quo). Kira's religion was an important part of her character on the show, i can't wait to see where the novels take this new development.
I think Nog is fiitng in well in his role as Chief of Ops. There's also quite a bit of mystery surrounding Shar -- the new Andorian science officer. I quite like the way the andorian race is portrayed (I prefer it to what we saw on Enterprise). And then there's Ro - the Cheif of Security. I really enjoyed the tension between her and Kira.
I can't wait to get my hands on the next relaunch novel!!!!
