Well, after 2 years with my boyfriend.. I've finally gotten him interested in Star Trek.. My attempts at showing him choice TNG and VOY episodes have failed.. But after sitting him down and making him watch three DS9 episodes: "Far Beyond the Stars", "In the Cards", and "Trials and Tribbleations", he's very close to being hooked! He said his favorite of the three was "In the Cards", which is an episode I've always thought was really delightful as well. Someone give me a high-five! I never thought I'd get him to both watch and enjoy any kind of Star Trek!

***high-fives Ana Ng***
You go, girl! ;D
My SO and I have been together for six and a half years, and it's been through watching the generally disappointing quality of writing in ENTERPRISE so far, that's he's finally expressed an interest in watching DS9 with me. (He's always been a Voyager fan, first and foremost...)

BIG HIGH FIVE TO ANA!
While TNG had its highs and lows in terms of the quality of its eps and the development of most of its characters, and VOY had good characters but fell short in its storytelling, DS9 usually delivered on both counts!
I particularly like how the stories don't always have "happy endings." Your boyfriend would probably appreciate that if he was disatisfied with the "tie it up in a neat bow" endings that the other shows had an annoying habit of doing.
Has he ever seen TOS? You didn't tell us what he thought of them.

Has he ever seen TOS? You didn't tell us what he thought of them.Well, yeah, he has seen TOS (as I think everyone has at some point), and he likes it, but more for the '60s kitsch than anything else. Last night we watched "Children of Time", things still running smoothly PS- "Children of Time".. gosh, I really love that episode

Hello everyone. (I post so little at this board that I feel the need to introduce myself every time. ) Good job Ana. Everyone should follow the faith... uh I mean watch that great show DS9. I'm currently trying to convert... uh I mean... get my little brothers to become Niners. It seems that I have little in common with them sometimes, and watching a great show that we all enjoy would be great fun. They currently like Voyager, a show that I can't stand. (No bashing intended, just expressing a personal feeling.) But I think enjoying DS9 requires a certain amount of maturity. (I thought "Duet" was a boring and stupid episode in first run.) They may just be too young right now. Well, untill next time. (I have no idea when that will be.)

You probably know who I am already, PreatorX. Only here I dropped the "2" out of my name. Not a big difference but hello anyway.
But the thought of converting people is interesting. If one Niner converts two people, and then those people convert two more people, and then those people convert two more people, we're talking world domination within months! The only thing on television will be The Sisko. And Paramount, who have all been converted into Niners, will have no choice but to make a movie. Hmmmm....it's evil but it could work.
