Do you think Janeway and Chakotay would have made a good couple. Personally I can see how it would not have worked beacuse of their positions but realistically i think it would have been GREAT to see them together in "Endgame", Voyager's final episode. Chakotay and Janeway had a lot of chemistry, it seemed that the writers created them in that way on purpose. I think in Endgame they should have gotten together - a fine way to end the series. I don't understand why the writers thought Seven and Chakotay were more suitable. During the series they didn't have that much chemistry, and not near as much as Janeway and Chak did.

Yeah, I was really hoping that they would get together... But they didn't, and the elements were all set up too... The Janeway split from Mark etc...
But Seven and Chakotay was completely stupid...

Just to console you - I browsed the last page of the Novelisation of Endgame - and there is Janeway gazing up into Chakotay's eyes and hoping that she won't always be 'Captain' to him.
Bye bye 7. ;D

I don't understand why TPTB wouldn't pair them in the final ep if the fans wanted it so much. Why do you think they paired Chak with 7??

I don't understand why TPTB wouldn't pair them in the final ep if the fans wanted it so much. Why do you think they paired Chak with 7?? I think they did it to punish Robert Beltran for all the negative comments he made about the production team. Seriously! They knew, as Doc pointed out above, that the vast majority of fans wanted to see a J/C relationship blossom in the final arc. How better to make the fans hate the Chakotay character than to hook him up with Seven? The Seven fans hate him for it because he's not worthy of her ( ), the Doctor fans hate him because they wanted to see D/7, the Janeway fans hate him for giving up on Janeway...see what I mean? As a Chakotay fan, I just hated the writers for it. I felt like I was being teased for seven years with J/C, only to get left in the lurch at the end(game). ;D

When Jeri joined the show and got involved with Braga, Robert joked that there wouldn't be any Chakotay/7 kissing scenes now. So she told Braga, and - eventually- he got around to writing some romance for her, first in Unimatrix Zero and then later in Human Error et al. At least, that's the version told to UPN for the promotional videos before Human Error got aired.

Well I have not seen the final episode yet but if I think hard: maybe they wanted to create a situation where 7 had a future to go to. With Chakotay she would not be alone on earth. And with 7 I think the logical choice would be the xo then anyone else on the ship.

Funny. I always thought that once Seven got to Earth, Chakotay would be the first thing to go. (Or is that hoped? I'm not sure.)
To be fair, I don't think I would have wanted to see a Janeway/Chakotay smooch in the final episode, either. Just some kind of hint that it wasn't over.

Peter hit the nail on the bonehead.
Objectively speaking, they had already set up Axum to be Seven's love interest, and they made a sloppy switch to oil a squeaky wheel.

*Peter throws a little yellow flag onto the ground next to where Holodoc is standing.* Personal foul. Too many mixed metaphors in one post. Ten yards. First down! (Forgive my forgetfulness, but was Axum the guy from Unimatrix Zero?)
