The Enterprise is the Flagship

I know it was mentioned in some recent thread that someone wanted reference of the Enterprise being the flagship of Starfleet.

There's been mention of it in TOS, TNG, Enterprise, and assorted films, but I finally came across an actual mention I can refer people to: In Icarus Factor, Picard makes mention of it when he speaks with Riker.

What eps/films in which sequences are there other references to this?

I was pondering this the other day, against my better judgment. ;D

I think there's conclusive evidence that all of the incarnations of the Enterprise seen on screen so far have been the Starfleet Flagship -- except the E.  I'm probably an idiot though.  Is there a canon reference to the E being the flagship?

None of the 'official' descriptions of the other Enterprises include the magic word flagship.

I always just assumed that if a ship bore the name Enterprise than it was the flagship. This discussion has really shed light on the subject for me.

Not to quibble with you, Christina, but is the official site "canon?"

The only reason I bring it up is that I've seen the word "flagship" thrown around a lot regarding different incarnations of Enterprise without any solid evidence from dialogue or visual to back it up.  What I'd really like to see is some specific episodes referenced, like our esteemed Doc did above.

I know there are more references to this issue in canon material...the truth is out there.  *Cue spooky music, cue Peter's mental fantasies about Gillian Anderson*  Oops, sorry.  Got carried away for a moment there. ;D

^^^  Actually, I wrote a series of articles for my MTh on the potential implications of the discovery of Paul's lost epistle to the Corinthians.  I suggested that he might have made an explicit statement in favor of women pastors/teachers/bishops.  It went over like a...well, like a fart in church, for lack of a better metaphor. ;D

Anyway, I'm not a zealot when it comes to Trek canon...really I'm more of a Pharisee.

Anyway...we've established that the Enterprise-D was the Starfleet Flagship in its day...anyone have anymore evidence to offer?

Another indication is that the Enterprise insignia from TOS was what was adapted for use for the entire of Starfleet. Before, each ship had its own ID...

It does. It is.

And like it or not, Voyager is UPN's flagship series.  ;D

Circumstantial evidence can still end up sentencing someone... Just depends upon the jury...
