Mentat Tir, I love the new avatar! What a hoot! Yes... But that William Hurt -thingy was also very nice... Hubba-hubba. Another magnum opus from dllmzca's workshop. Indeed... I don't know which is more enviable, dllmzca; your overall talent or the rate you're obviously capable of producing them!

lovely! Thank you! I love the blue..what a good choice.. now heres a question for ya.. how do you make such great avatars? Sounds like something i could get into.. Ezri, I'm pleased that you like it! ;D As for how I make the avatars: it's definitely been a progression. I started a couple of months ago after being inspired by people like T'Bonz over on TrekBBS. At first, I saved copies of avatars that I liked and studied them in detail to see how they were laid out. Then, I started working on my own. After time, with a lot of trial and error, I built up number of both male and female avatars. I now use those as templates when someone asks for a customised avatar. I limit myself to Trek related avatars, as I really enjoy making them. I also keep the posturings fairly straight-forward, but may try some more kinetically interesting poses as I gain skill. Here are a few others I'm working on: www.boomspeed.com/dllmzca/masterbrow.gif[/IMG](I only consider the Vulcan male to be 'completed', so far.) I've also done some in Voyager and TOS era uniforms for people on other boards. I have to say how much I'm enjoying making avatars for the people here! It's great fun to try and come up with visuals for the characters that people are playing in the RPG. I've never been involved in an RPG and want to go check out the 'episodes' to read about some of the characters I've done avatars for... If anyone else would like an avatar, please don't hesitate to ask! I can't make any promises, but I will gladly give them my best shot!

Me too, but Reverend Mother Tir might be misleading. ;D Hubba-hubba. Another magnum opus from dllmzca's workshop. Very true about the Reverend Mother bit, sir... ;D Thanks again for the compliment!

If you're interested in the characters in the RPG, check out the website that Ezri and I made a while back. Most of the crew photos there I did. www.geocities.com/ncc6901/crew.htmlMost of the same characters are there as in the new RPG, Spacedock Polaris. I'm working on a site for the new RPG in my free time.

I agree about the William Hurt avatar: now that one made me go 'Hubba-Hubba'! ;D BTW, Gnom, I also love the avatar you're using, now! It's brilliant!

I have no idea on how one does that kind of graphic manipulation: I just cobble little pixels together for cartoony characters. Someday, I have to sit down with my Photoshop manual and try to learn how to do work like you do...

BTW, Gnom, I also love the avatar you're using, now! It's brilliant! I cheated with it: I had picture. Two pictures, actually. What I was attempting to do at first was to create a feminine version of Data [not Lal], but what kept coming out was rather...frightening.

can you post a few examples of your "template" avatars? I'm really curious! Actually, most of them are now in one post or another in this thread. For your avatar, Rhai, I took an avatar I made for a friend of mine on TrekBBS. Here it is: For yours, I took the pose as a frame and modified the hair, uniform, etc... I'll also often widen or narrow the face and body of various avatars to try and give them a unique quality. My personal avatars, for example, are stocky because I'm stocky, IRL. (I have a pic in the pic thread in the other forum.) Working at this scale, I find it very hard to get a true likeness of someone, so I play with the eyebrows, lips, and poses to try and give each avatar their own unique feel.

I couldn't resist. I made a Captain Matthew Kelly avatar in the dllmzca style.
