With only 8 choices this was tough to do. I left out Worf and put other since Worf was there the shortest and I can see needing a place for the people who liked Mourn and Dukat.
Personally, I put Other because I liked the diversity of the HUGE supporting cast more than any other single person.

I had to go with Julian, It was a tough call on this one. Avery was fantastic as Sisko, And Colm was also great as O'brien But Alexander took a one sided stupid role(with the help of TPTB and made him a facinating persona

Well, that looks interesting so far.
This is the most difficult series for me, I didn't really get into it like some people evidently did.

To clarify your reason for the "other" choice, put me down for Gul Dukat. He started out as a two-dimensional baddie, then became an interesting "respectable" adversary, then a likeable anti-hero when Cardassia was attacked by the Klingon Empire, then a fascinating turncoat when Cardassia sided with the Dominion, then a tragic grieving father when Zeol died, and finally a worthy opponent when he became the Pah Wraiths' champion to oppose Sisko's Emisary status.
You didn't know what to expect from him from season to season! My compliments to the writers and Marc Alaimo, not necessary in that order.

Bashir was such a multifacreted character by the last few seasons. Sisko and Kira are close seconds for me.

Gosh, this is the toughest one. DS9 had characters that were all so intense and complex. I almost went with Dax, but decided against it, because I really didn't ever warm up to Ezri. She didn't bother me, but I still think it's a great shame that Terry Farrell left the show. I really grew attached to the Worf/Jadzia relationship, the Quark/Jadzia relationship, the Sisko/Jadzia relationship, the Kira/Jadzia relationship... I just liked the way she interacted with the crew, and I never felt that Ezri's character made the connections as strong. No slight to writers or the Nicoel deBoer, but there just wasn't enough time to really explore Ezri. I also almost put "other", since I was fond of so many of the supporting characters, like Garak, Dukat, Weyoun.. But in the end, I went with Kira. She had some of the most fascinating episodes, including my all time favorite DS9 episode, "Duet". She evolved from a hard-lined "terrorist" with survival instincts that outshadowed everything else in her life, to a person who was forced to confront her own prejudices as well as the prejudices of others. I think the most remarkable thing about Kira is that, in a way, her character wasn't "meant to be". It was supposed to be Ro first, and as much as I really liked Ro, I'm very glad Michelle Forbes turned down the role, and we got Kira instead Couldn't have worked out better

Afraid DS9 wasn't my favourite series, so I never really had a 'true' favourite character either, but I always found Quark amusing, so I chose him.

I could never get into DS9, dont get me wrong there are some excellent episodes, however it wasnt consistent enough to make me watch it regularly. If anyone stuck out it was Jadzia she looks like a friend of mine then again so does Ezri.

I have to say Jake. He didn't have a really big parts in most of the story lines but we got to see the charcter grow. The most growth of the charcter was in the eppy when Bashir and Jake were on the planet that was under Klingon attack.

Okay, I voted for The Sisko. Not only did I find him the most compelling character in the series, he is also the Trek captain I try most to emulate in my interpersonal relations and in my leadership style.
I mean, Picard is great...but I would have hit Q, too. ;D

Without any hesitation, The Sisko is my choice. Altough religion is not very Roddenberry, I was always pleased when a story was around the prophets. I thought the character was just bigger than life. Avery Brooks could give you the chills with his intensity in some scenes. Just remember the episode Far Beyond The Star when he crumbles on the floor not understanding why he can't get published just because his character is black. I thought that was pretty intense.
He'd even have my vote if there was a poll for favorite actor or favorite character for any star trek series.

If you ask me on one day for my fave, I'll say Kira. Ask me on another day, and I'll say O'Brien.
I like Kira for her vibrancy and passion. I think that her character is crucial to the series.
I like O'Brien because he's a decent, loyal, regular kind of guy. IMO, people like that are often underappreciated.

I'd say Obrien's shining moment was his work with the Orion Syndicate and his Donnie Brasco episode.

I truly apreciate O'Brien as well, those episodes with the Orion syndicate and Hard Time were really ones. Visionary (jumping ahead in time), but what about Whispers, we follow a cloned O'Brien the whole episode without knowing. The first time I saw this episode I was completly fooled.
When is it you consider yourself a trekkie? Last week, I dreamt I saw Colm Meaney in person and was babbling to him stuff like, I've seen all the episodes, you're so good, an exemple as a father figure,... I guess there is no point being in denial anymore... ;D
