Thanks for keeping us updated, DS9 Fan! And yes, keep fighting the good fight! It's never hopeless! Letter-writing campaigns kept Quantum Leap on the air for much longer than it was supposed to be on, and in the end, the studio is going to listen to what the people want, because we are the ones who make them money!
I think a DS9 movie would be fabulous, especially since the ending to DS9 was more "open" than other shows. There's so much potential for great storytelling!

Thank you, Ana, there's more hope for the petition than there was a week ago. I think when we get 10,000 signatures we'll finally be taken seriously. I don't see much of a difference between 9,999 and 10,000 but somehow that extra digit encourages people. So whatever encourages people, I'm all for...
First Contact, maybe we will get those 10,000 by Friday. I'm not sure, but I think it might take longer because I expect the rate to decrease in time. Who knows.

I have big news to report: We finally have a send-in date. The poll closed earlier today and the results were tallied electronically. Here's the results:
[glow=red,2,300]January 2003 on DS9's Tenth Anniversary: 348 votes, 45%[/glow]
As soon as possible: 339 votes, 44%
2004 after DS9 is released on DVD: 40 votes, 5%
Fall of 2004 when DS9 is on TNN: 38 votes, 5%
It was a very close race as you can notice, but we'll be sending the petition in by the week of Janaury 4th, 2003.

Oh, you're referring to the number of signatures it'll take for us to get to 10,000. 76 at the moment, but the rate is back to it's very slow pace now so it'll be a while before we get there.
BTW I haven't gone AWOL, just a few things I'm busy with. As a matter of fact I had promised James I'd have the third script of my fanfic series posted *last week*! So there's a delay on all of my projects. This is going to be an even busier week for me too in RL...

Actually I'm afraid that you can't party yet. As I mentioned before I screen the signatures to make sure no one signs more than once. Someone hacked into the system, and signed 35 times. This includes signature 10,000. They apparently wanted to be that lucky number so bad that they signed that many times. I sent a notice to Petitions online to delete every single one of them, even the first from this person. And this time it was actually fairly easy for me to tell that they were all from the same person. We've got our ways of knowing. But this was the largest instant of mass signing there has ever been, pretty much shattering the record of someone who signed 12 times some time ago, meaning I'm Royally Ticked with a capital "R" and "T". I intend to do this the *honest* way even if it means sacrificing dozens or even hundreds of signatures in the end and putting off signature 10,000. I'm very uptight when it comes to that. And I'm not a very likable person when I'm Royally Ticked but it doesn't happen often. But it's not done to punish you or any of the other people supporting and/or signing the petition, so hopefully you're ok with this. I just want the petition to be as legit as possible and I'd feel better knowing we got these signatures without using any underhanded means.

Oh absolutely. It's hard,I know, but I fully agree. And it's really the only way to get this petition taken totally seriously.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I haven't had a chance to come back here lately. I don't have much to report, other than that things are back to normal, or as normal as they are ever going to be. We're at our old signature rate and it stands at about 10,300 signatures. The 35 signatures I mentioned were voided out of the petition so everything of that nature was taken care of. Now all I have to do is get the rest voided, and that will take longer. Everything is going pretty slow in that respect. We haven't alerted the "news media" about the 10,000 mark. I'm assuming the signature count will climb a little after we do that. I'm not sure that we'll get 4,000 signatures like last time, or even 1,000, but it'll probably give the petition another kickstart. As far as web supporters we've got 29, I think. We've even gotten the help of a few sites that don't have English as the primary language, so I've seen several comments on the petition that weren't in English. I don't speak Spanish or German, so I can only hope the comments were good. That's all. I'll try to post some fan fiction here but I'm waaaaay behind in that. Had to put all of my writing plans on "hiatus".
